Shun Onozawa is an executive search consultant specializing in the Healthcare and HealthTech sectors, recruiting across a wide range of positions from specialist to executive level.
He began his career at MSD K.K., where he spent approximately ten years as a Medical Representative. Working primarily across oncology and other specialty areas, as well as primary care, he provided evidence-based scientific information and built strong relationships with healthcare professionals at university and major regional hospitals. His firsthand experience of decision-making in clinical settings now serves as the foundation of his recruitment work within the healthcare sector.
Shun subsequently transitioned into recruitment, where he specialized in headhunting for mid-career and executive-level professionals.
He later served as Manager of the Executive Division and oversaw recruitment support across IT and digital transformation, marketing, and human resources. In 2026, he received the company’s annual award for outstanding performance.
Shun currently leads executive search assignments at Johzen K.K., primarily across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and digital health sectors.
On the client side, he works directly not only with human resources teams but also with senior executives and business leaders. By understanding the commercial objectives behind each hire, he provides end-to-end support encompassing role and candidate-profile design, talent mapping, and candidate sourcing.
For candidates, Shun draws on firsthand information gathered directly from employers to provide a clear picture of the organization beyond what appears in a job description. He then works with each individual to develop a thoughtful, long-term career strategy.
His approach is grounded in the belief that the quality of a decision depends on the quality of the information behind it.
Shun does not believe that simply presenting numerous job openings or offering reassuring assessments constitutes meaningful support. He provides clients with candid advice, including challenging the assumptions behind their hiring criteria, and helps candidates consider every option—including the possibility that now may not be the right time to make a move.
His guiding principle is to deliver the one insight that can change a decision, rather than one hundred pieces of general job information.
Shun holds a degree from the Faculty of Sustainability Studies at Hosei University. He is a native Japanese speaker and can also provide support in Korean (TOPIK Level 6; interpreting proficiency) and English.
